On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, the 66th week of the “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign was observed across 41 prisons in Iran. Political prisoners, while expressing solidarity with the victims of the deadly Bandar Abbas explosion, explicitly held the ruling regime and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) responsible for the catastrophe.
“The 66th week of the ‘No to Execution Tuesdays’ campaign coincides with the heartbreaking news of the deaths of dozens and the injury of over a thousand people in the horrific explosion in Bandar Abbas. We extend our condolences to the families of all the deceased. It is clear to the people of Iran that the main perpetrators of this disaster—whose full human and financial toll remains unclear—are the oppressive rulers and the terrorist IRGC, who are continuously engaged in the production of missile and nuclear weaponry and in warmongering.”
The statement also honored International Workers’ Day and National Teachers’ Day by saluting Iranian workers and teachers who have long fought for justice in the face of systematic oppression.
“We extend our greetings and congratulations to all the people of Iran, especially the workers, laborers, and both active and retired teachers. Despite decades of systemic suppression and discrimination, the working class, educators, and all the hard-working people have continued to struggle for their rights—many facing imprisonment and even execution.”
The prisoners further praised individuals and civil society members—workers, retirees, artists, writers, and poets—who have taken a stand against the death penalty.
“We hope that ‘No to Execution’ becomes a shared public demand and, as before, that the chant of ‘No to Execution’ echoes throughout all gatherings.”
According to the statement, at least 35 people, including one woman and two political prisoners—Rostam Zeyn al-Din and Hamid Hosseinnezhad Heydaranlou—have been executed in the current Iranian month (Ordibehesht). Heydaranlou’s body was not even returned to his family. These actions were condemned as inhumane and indicative of the regime’s fear of mass uprising.
The prisoners also warned of imminent threats to other inmates, including Mehdi Hassani and Behrouz Ehsani, whose retrial requests were rejected again by the Supreme Court.
