Week 71 of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign: Firouzabad Prison Joins Nationwide Protest
On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, the “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign marked its 71st consecutive week of action against the death penalty in Iran. For the first time, prisoners at Firouzabad Prison in Fars Province joined the protest, further expanding the campaign’s reach to a total of 46 prisons across the country.

This week’s statement underscores a sharp and alarming increase in executions. Since the beginning of Khordad (May 22), at least 67 prisoners, including 3 women, have been executed—averaging seven executions per day. A particularly harrowing incident occurred on May 28, when 20 prisoners were executed in a single day.
The campaign highlights the systematic media silence surrounding these executions and calls on the families of those on death row to break this silence by publicly sharing information about their loved ones’ cases. It warns against the deceptive tactics and threats used by intelligence agents to enforce compliance and secrecy.
“The cry of ‘No to Execution’ must echo through every city and street,” the statement declares. “This regime continues to bring mourning to families daily. Our strength lies in unity and collective resistance.”
The campaign also expresses solidarity with Iran’s striking truck drivers, who are on the twelfth day of their protest. It encourages other marginalized groups to join the drivers and support their struggle.
Amid this dire backdrop, the execution of Pedram Madani on espionage charges—carried out in Qezel-Hesar Prison under complete media blackout—highlights the regime’s use of capital punishment as a political tool. Additionally, the Supreme Court’s rejection of a retrial request for Mohammad Amin Mahdavi-Shayesteh, also sentenced to death for espionage by Judge Salavati, places his life in imminent danger.

The campaign urges all families affected to resist manipulation, go public, and raise their voices together. Public exposure and international awareness are essential tools in halting the machinery of death.
