The 79th Week of “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign Begins Amid Harsh Repression

On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, the “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign enters its seventy-ninth consecutive week in 48 prisons across Iran. This week unfolds under the heavy shadow of intensified violence and a new wave of executions, including the sudden and unannounced execution of two political prisoners and campaign members—Mehdi Hassani and Behrouz Ehsani Eslamloo—in Qezel Hesar Prison.

Adding to the urgency of this moment, political prisoner Yaghoub Derakhshan, who had previously been arrested on charges of “propaganda against the regime,” has been sentenced to death in Lakan Prison in Rasht—putting yet another life at immediate risk.

Despite this targeted crackdown—marked by mass raids, solitary confinement, and forced transfers—the campaign persists with renewed determination. In this week’s statement, imprisoned members of the campaign affirm their steadfastness and collective resolve, condemning the regime’s efforts to silence dissent through fear and death. They call upon the global community to amplify the message of “No to Execution” and support the struggle for justice, dignity, and freedom.
