Iranian Prisoners Halt Six Executions in 91st Week of “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign

91st Week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in 52 Prisons Across Iran – October 21, 2025

91st Week of Resistance Across 52 Prisons in Iran

On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, the 91st week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign took place across 52 prisons in Iran.
This week’s highlight was a powerful act of resistance. Prisoners in Ward 2 of Qezel Hesar Prison launched a week-long hunger strike, chanting “No to Execution.”
Their courage stopped the execution of six fellow inmates.

Statement of the Week: “Repression Cannot Silence Resistance”

In its weekly statement, the campaign honored this act of defiance and declared:

“The executioner regime, terrified of uprisings and revolution, tries to crush every voice of protest through brutal repression. But such illusions are futile.”

The campaign praised the prisoners’ bravery and urged human rights organizations to take practical steps to stop executions in Iran and speak for those on death row.

Defiance Inside and Outside Prison Walls

On Sunday, October 19, 2025, after the hunger strike, families of prisoners gathered in front of Iran’s parliament.
They protested the government’s execution-driven policies and demanded justice.
Their action added strength to the growing movement against state violence.

In only one week, the regime executed 59 people, including two women and one juvenile offender.
Since September 23 (the start of Mehr), 232 executions have been carried out.
Since March 21, 2025, the total number of executions has risen to over 1,087.
Recently, on Saturday, a prisoner in Qom Prison was hanged on false charges of “collaboration with hostile states.”

A Growing Movement Against the Death Penalty

The statement condemned these ongoing crimes and stressed that repression comes from fear of a popular uprising.
It praised the Qezel Hesar prisoners, who risked their lives to resist.
They showed that they have nothing left to lose and are determined to destroy the machinery of execution and tyranny.

The campaign also called on the international community to take concrete action, including:

“Inaction in the face of such barbarity,” the statement warned, “is complicity in its crimes.”

Continuing the Struggle

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign reaffirmed its commitment to the abolition of the death penalty in Iran.
It promised to remain the voice of prisoners and their families, calling on the people of Iran to continue their support — in every alley, street, and city.
