Iran’s 89th “No to Execution Tuesdays” Marks Hunger Strikes in 52 Prisons

Global Calls for Abolition, Iran’s Escalating Executions

As the world moves toward abolishing capital punishment, the Iranian regime continues to expand its use of executions. This week marks the 89th consecutive week of the  “No to Execution Tuesdays”  campaign, spanning 52 prisons across the country.

Executions of Seven Political Prisoners

On Saturday, October 4, 2025, seven political prisoners were executed in Ahvaz and Ghezel Hesar prisons. Their names are:
Ali Mojadam, Mohammadreza Moghaddam, Moein Khanfari, Habib Deris, Adnan Mousavi Ghabishavi, Salem Mousavi Alboshoukeh, and Kurdish political prisoner Saman Mohammadi Mohammadi Khiyareh.

On the same day, the death sentence of political prisoner Mohammad Javad Vafaei-Sani was confirmed for the third time by Iran’s Supreme Court.

Shocking Statistics: 1,695 Executions in One Year

From October 2024 to October 2025, at least 1,695 executions have been recorded. In just the first half of 1404 (2025), 957 people were executed — a figure believed to be much higher in reality.
Amnesty International reports that while 113 countries have abolished the death penalty, Iran continues to lead the world in state-sanctioned executions.

“No to Execution” — The Voice of the People

In a society gripped by fear, the regime uses executions to silence dissent. Teachers, retirees, workers, and students now unite under a single, powerful slogan: “No to Execution.”

Remembering Teachers of Freedom

On World Teachers’ Day, the campaign honors the memories of Farzad Kamangar, Shirin Alamhouli, Farhad Vakili, Ali Heydarian, and Samad Behrangi — teachers who dedicated their lives to equality and justice.

A Call to Conscience

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign calls on all civil society activists, writers, artists, teachers, retirees, and workers to unite their voices against the death penalty — the regime’s most powerful instrument of terror.
Only by ending executions can Iran move toward justice and liberty.
