Iranian Prisoners Continue Protest in 95th Week of “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign

Prisoners stage hunger strikes in Iran’s ‘No to Execution Tuesdays’ Campaign – Week 95

The nationwide “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign has entered its 95th week, with prisoners across 54 prisons continuing to protest through hunger strikes. This week’s statement commemorates the martyrs of the November 2019 Aban uprising and condemns the ongoing surge of state executions.

Honoring the Martyrs of the November (Aban) Uprising

The campaign statement reads:

“In remembrance of the fallen of the November (Aban) uprising—over 1,500 women, men, and youths who sacrificed their lives for freedom—we reaffirm our commitment to continue their path until the complete abolition of executions and the realization of freedom and equality. As long as oppression and injustice persist, Aban lives on.”

Participants emphasize that their struggle continues against the machinery of state violence and repression, linking the current wave of executions to the broader fight for freedom and human rights in Iran.

Surge in Executions Highlights Judicial Violence

The campaign specifically denounces the reconfirmation of death sentences for three political prisoners in Sheiban Prison of Ahvaz: Alireza Mardasi, Farshad Etemadifar, and Masoud Jamaei. During the past week, one prisoner was executed publicly, and the total number of executions since the November 2019 uprising has exceeded 250—highlighting the catastrophic scale of state-sanctioned violence.

Call for Solidarity and Public Action

The campaign stresses that only public solidarity can protect prisoners from the gallows.

“We call on all freedom-loving people of Iran—every city, every district, and with whatever means available—not to remain silent in the face of this terrifying wave of executions. Raise your voice of protest, in every form and on every platform, against the implementation of death sentences.”

Families of prisoners continue weekly protests in front of prisons and judicial institutions, showing courage and resilience despite grief. The campaign emphasizes that collective resistance is the key to stopping the machinery of executions.

Prisons Participating in the 95th Week

Prisons participating in the hunger strike this week include Evin Prison (Wards 6 and 7), Qezel Hesar Prison, Karaj Central Prison, Greater Tehran Penitentiary, Qarchak Prison, Sheiban and Sepidar Prisons in Ahvaz, Adelabad Prison in Shiraz, Zahedan Prison, Mashhad Prison, Rasht Prison, Tabriz Prison, Urmia Prison, and dozens of others across Iran.

The 95th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign, observed on Tuesday, Aban 27, 1404, marks another step in the ongoing resistance against executions and repression in Iran.
