Executions Surge in Iran Despite Growing Public Outcry

On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the 93rd week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign took place in 54 prisons across Iran. At least 76 prisoners were executed in the first 12 days of the Persian month of Aban (October 23 – November 3, 2025), highlighting the rapid pace of the government’s execution machine.

Prisoner Strikes and Nationwide Protests

The campaign follows a week-long strike by prisoners in Ward 2 of Qezel Hesar Prison. Protests are also spreading among the public, with retirees in Kermanshah chanting slogans such as “An Iran without executions” and condemning state-sanctioned morality patrols.

UN Highlights Widespread Violations of Right to Life

UN Special Rapporteur on Iran, Ms. Mai Sato, and Chair of the International Fact-Finding Mission, Ms. Sara Hossain, addressed the UN General Assembly’s Third Committee last week, drawing attention to secret executions in Iran. Official reports account for only 8% of the actual death sentences carried out.

Hunger Strikes in Prisons Across the Country

Prisoners in fifty-four prisons, including Evin, Qezel Hesar, Karaj Central, Qarchak, Shiraz’s Adelabad, and Mashhad, participated in hunger strikes this week. Campaign members call on death row prisoners, families, and the public to confront state-sanctioned executions and publish the names of those sentenced to death.

Call to Action: “No to Execution”

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign urges all Iranians to resist ongoing executions, highlighting the moral and human rights violations of the regime’s policies. Public solidarity is crucial in confronting this growing human rights crisis.
