Week 96 of “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign Expands to 55 Prisons Across Iran

Prisoners and families unite in Week 96 of “No to Execution Tuesdays” against Iran’s executions.

The No to Execution Tuesdays campaign marked its 96th consecutive week on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, with Birjand Central Prison joining the campaign, bringing the total to 55 prisons across Iran. This weekly act of defiance—maintained by political and non-political prisoners—continues to challenge the regime’s accelerating use of the death penalty.

Executions Described as “Crime Against Humanity”

In their statement, prisoners condemned the regime’s intensifying executions, reporting 1,479 people executed since March 21, 2025, and highlighting the death sentence issued for Mohammad Mehdi Soleimani, a protester arrested during the 2022 uprising. They stressed that this pattern reflects a politicized and unjust judicial system.

UN Resolution Recognizes Human Rights Violations

The statement referenced the 72nd United Nations resolution, highlighting recognition of the 1988 massacre and condemnation of the regime’s rising executions as a tool of intimidation.

Families Continue to Protest

Despite threats and arrests, the families of death-row prisoners continue weekly protests demanding the protection of their loved ones and international support.

Hunger Strike in Key Prisons

To mark Week 96, prisoners staged hunger strikes in key facilities, including Evin Prison, Qezel Hesar Prison, Karaj Central Prison, and the newly joined Birjand Central Prison, along with other 51 prisons across Iran.
