Tuesday, December 9, 2025 marks the 98th consecutive week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign—an unprecedented act of coordinated civil resistance across 55 prisons in Iran. This week unfolds under two deeply troubling developments:
- the suspicious death of justice-seeking lawyer Khosrow Alikordi, a steadfast supporter of the campaign, and

the issuance of a death sentence for political prisoner Karim Khojasteh in Rasht’s Lakan Prison.
Amid this dark escalation, striking prisoners reaffirm that executions in Iran have ceased to be a “judicial measure” and now function as a deliberate state policy—organized crime rooted in systematic denial of the right to life.
A Justice-Seeking Lawyer Silenced: The Suspicious Death of Khosrow Alikordi
Khosrow Alikordi, known for defending detainees of the 2022 nationwide uprising and supporting families demanding justice, died this week under circumstances that colleagues describe as highly suspicious. His loss is widely felt among human-rights defenders and the broader community of Iranians resisting state repression.
His voice, courage, and advocacy remain an enduring part of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” movement.
Death Sentence for Political Prisoner Karim Khojasteh
At the same time, authorities escalated their campaign of terror by handing political prisoner Karim Khojasteh a death sentence.
This comes during one of the deadliest execution surges in recent months:

95 people executed in just the past week, including two women.

More than 200 executions between November 22 and December 8.
This wave of killings is widely viewed as a regime tactic to crush social discontent and preempt future uprisings.

Despite the regime’s brutality, week after week, prisoners across the country continue to rise in coordinated defiance.
