Two members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), Babak Alipour and Pouya Ghobadi, were executed early Tuesday, March 31, in Ghezel Hesar Prison, according to statement published by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).
Babak Alipour, 34, a lawyer, and Pouya Ghobadi, 33, an electrical engineer, had both been arrested in 2024 and previously detained for alleged links to the PMOI. They were sentenced to death in December 2024 alongside several other political prisoners following what were described as months of interrogation and torture.

According to the judiciary of the Iran regime, the two men were accused of armed activities, including attacks on sensitive sites in Tehran using projectile weapons and alleged involvement in operations targeting state institutions. The charges included “rebellion (Baghi),” participation in “terrorist actions,” and membership in the PMOI with the aim of overthrowing the system.
The executions came shortly after two other prisoners in the same case, Mohammad Taghavi and Akbar Daneshvarkar, were also put to death. Reports indicate that, prior to the executions, security forces transferred several death-row prisoners to solitary confinement and cut off communication with their families following violent raids on prison wards.
Sources affiliated with the Iranian resistance described the executions as part of an escalation of state repression against political prisoners linked to the PMOI, characterizing the killings as “state-sanctioned murder.”
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the NCRI, strongly condemned the executions. She stated that the killings reflect “the regime’s fear of the people and their embrace of the Resistance Units,” adding that such actions demonstrate the authorities’ desperation in the face of growing dissent.
In a message shared on social media, Mrs. Rajavi said that the execution of the two PMOI members shows the regime’s fear and warned that “this bloodshed will forever roll up the disgraceful scroll of the regime.” She praised the executed individuals for their steadfastness and called on the United Nations, its member states, and human rights organizations to condemn the executions and take immediate action.
Mrs. Rajavi also urged the international community to adopt concrete measures, including diplomatic steps against the Iran regime, and emphasized the need to protect other political prisoners currently on death row.
