Prisoners Mark 110th Week of “No to Execution Tuesdays” with Hunger Strike in 56 Prisons Across Iran

Week 110 of the No to Execution Tuesdays campaign: Prisoners in 56 Iranian prisons stage a coordinated hunger strike against executions.
Week 110 of the No to Execution Tuesdays campaign: Prisoners in 56 Iranian prisons stage a coordinated hunger strike against executions.

In the 110th week of the  “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, political prisoners across Iran launched a coordinated hunger strike on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in 56 prisons nationwide. The campaigners renewed their call for an end to executions and demanded urgent international action against the ruling regime’s escalating wave of death sentences.

While expressing solidarity with the Iranian people amid ongoing war conditions imposed by the regime, the prisoners reaffirmed their commitment to democratic change and the overthrow of the Velayat-e Faqih system.

Hunger Strike in 56 Prisons Amid Escalating Executions

Participants in the “No to Execution Tuesdays” initiative warned that the regime’s execution machine continues to operate at full speed. According to the campaign’s statement, more than 65 prisoners have been executed since February 20, during the Persian month of Esfand.

The hunger strike on March 3 spanned 56 detention centers, including Evin Prison, Qezel Hesar Prison, Greater Tehran Prison, Adelabad Prison, and Vakilabad Prison, alongside dozens of other facilities across the country.

The coordinated action underscores the growing unrest within Iran’s prison system, where political detainees and ordinary inmates alike face mounting repression.

New Death Sentences Target Uprising Detainees

The campaign highlighted several recent death sentences issued against detainees from past uprisings.

Among them is Mohammad Reza Majidi Asl, who was sentenced to death in Tehran on charges of “Moharebeh” (enmity against God) for his alleged role in the January uprising.

Two Kurdish political prisoners, Mohammad Faraji and Raouf Sheikh Maroufi, detained during the 2022 nationwide protests, have also been condemned to execution.

Meanwhile, the death sentence of political prisoner Peyman Farah-Avar, held in Lakan Prison, has been upheld for the second time by the regime’s Supreme Court, placing him at imminent risk of execution.

The campaign warned that many other detainees are currently under torture and severe pressure, facing the threat of death sentences or lengthy prison terms following unfair trials.

Prisoners: End of Velayat-e Faqih Is Gateway to Democracy

In their week 110 statement, campaign members described the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei as “the beginning of the end” for the Velayat-e Faqih regime, which they hold responsible for the execution and massacre of tens of thousands of Iranians over the past decades.

Despite the harsh wartime conditions imposed by the authorities, the prisoners stressed that they stand alongside the Iranian people and share in their suffering.

They expressed confidence that Iran is moving irreversibly toward a democratic future and emphasized that freedom will be achieved through the unity and solidarity of the Iranian people—not through foreign intervention.

Call for UN Security Council Action

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign once again called on international bodies and human rights organizations to take immediate action regarding the plight of political prisoners sentenced to death.

The prisoners demanded the referral of the regime’s record of executions and human rights violations to the United Nations Security Council, urging the global community to hold Iranian authorities accountable for what they described as systematic crimes against humanity.

As the campaign enters its 110th consecutive week, the prisoners’ message remains clear: executions must stop, political prisoners must be freed, and Iran’s future must be shaped by its people.
