Iran’s Regime Executes PMOI Members Vahid Bani Amerian and Abolhassan Montazer Amid Political Crackdown

April 4, 2026 – PMOI members Vahid Bani Amerian and Abolhassan Montazer executed by Iran’s regime.

April 4, 2026 – Iran’s regime has executed two members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), Vahid Bani Amerian and Abolhassan Montazer, as part of a continuing crackdown on opposition figures.

This crime follows the executions of four other PMOI members on March 30–31, 2026: Mohammad Taghavi, Akbar Daneshvarkar, Babak Alipour, and Pouya Ghobadi.

The execution of six PMOI political prisoners, intended to instill fear and consolidate regime control, has instead triggered global outrage and exposed the fragility of Iran’s ruling system.

Abolhassan Montazer, aged 66, was an architect and former political prisoner from the 1980s. Vahid Bani Amerian, 33, held a master’s degree in management and had previously spent four years in prison since 2017. Both men were dedicated PMOI members and graduates of top Iranian universities.

Following their arrests in January 2024, they were held in Evin Prison and Ghezel Hesar Prison under harsh conditions prior to their executions this morning, April 4, 2026.

International observers and lawmakers in the United States and Europe have condemned the killings, emphasizing the risks faced by PMOI members and detained protesters in Iran, and calling for stronger international action to protect political activists.

Maryam Rajavi Condemns Executions of PMOI Members and Calls for UN Action

In a statement marking the executions, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the NCRI, honored the courage and dedication of Vahid Bani Amerian, Abolhassan Montazer, and the four previously executed PMOI members. She described them as steadfast fighters for freedom whose sacrifices strengthen the resolve of Iran’s youth and resistance forces. Mrs. Rajavi called on the United Nations to hold a special session to urgently address the ongoing executions of political prisoners and to take concrete measures to protect PMOI members, other resistance activists, and young demonstrators across Iran who remain at risk of execution.
