“No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign Continues into Its 118th Week Across 56 Prisons in Iran

Week 118 of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign in Iran—prisoners in 56 prisons protest executions with hunger strikes.

Political prisoners and death row inmates in 56 prisons across Iran marked the 118th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign with a hunger strike, despite escalating security pressure and threats from prison authorities.

Statement on the 118th Week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays Campaign”

In its 118th week, the “No to Execution Tuesdays Campaign” reported that on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, political prisoners and death row inmates in 56 prisons across the country staged a coordinated hunger strike. The protest took place under severe security restrictions, mounting pressure, and direct threats from prison officials.

According to the campaign, prison authorities in recent weeks have intensified efforts to prevent inmates from joining the protest movement.

Sustained Protests in 56 Prisons

The campaign emphasized that participants across 56 prisons once again joined the hunger strike in protest against the increasing use of executions in Iran. Despite heightened repression and widespread restrictions, prisoners remain resolute in continuing their protest against the death penalty.

The “No to Execution Tuesdays Campaign” has become one of the longest-running and most persistent forms of organized resistance inside Iran’s prisons. In its latest statement, participants reaffirmed their determination to continue protesting despite growing pressure.

Intensified Pressure to Halt Hunger Strikes

The statement also highlighted increased efforts by prison authorities to stop prisoners from participating in the campaign.

Sources report that measures such as threats of transfer to solitary confinement, denial of phone calls, suspension of family visits, tightening of welfare conditions, and broader security intimidation have been used to discourage participation.

Nevertheless, prisoners have continued their hunger strike in the 118th consecutive week.

Execution of Three Political Prisoners

The campaign further reported that three political prisoners were executed in the past week, describing the move as part of an ongoing escalation of state repression.

According to the statement, Amir-Ali Mirjafari from Tehran, Erfan Kiani from Isfahan, and Amer Ramesh from Sistan and Baluchestan—detained in connection with the January 2026 uprising—were executed following what the campaign described as “unjust” judicial processes.

The statement also noted that the bodies of two of the executed prisoners have not been returned to their families. The campaign condemned this as a case of “enforced disappearance,” warning that such actions may constitute crimes against humanity.
