Kerman Prison Joins the Nationwide Campaign Against Executions
The statement of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign was issued on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, announcing that Kerman Prison has joined the campaign, bringing the number of participating prisons to 57 across Iran.
Referring to the 134 brutal executions carried out by the Iranian authorities during June 2026, the statement condemned the continuation of repression and executions aimed at spreading fear among society through what it described as “the killing and execution machine of Iran’s executioner regime.”
The statement added that Amnesty International, Ms. Mai Sato, the United Nations Special Rapporteur, and a number of UN human rights experts have separately warned about the disregard for human rights violations in Iran and the continued impunity enjoyed by those responsible for abuses against the Iranian people, including their failure to face international accountability.
Prisoners Vow to Continue Their Fight Until the Abolition of the Death Penalty
The prisoners participating in the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, who have continuously protested medieval-style executions in Iran every Tuesday for 126 weeks through hunger strikes and every means available to them, once again declared:
“The human rights of the people of Iran, particularly prisoners, are not negotiable. Standing alongside the people of Iran, we will defend freedom, equality, and the abolition of the death penalty with our last breath and every ounce of our strength.”
The prisoners called on all conscientious and aware citizens of Iran, as well as the awakened consciences of people around the world and international human rights organizations, not to remain silent in the face of the growing wave of executions in Iran.
They urged the international community to take responsible and effective action to stop what they described as an organized crime carried out by the ruling religious fascism in Iran.
“No Dictatorship Can Silence the Demand for Justice Forever”
The statement emphasized:
“History has shown that no dictatorship has survived by relying on violence, and no government has ever been able to silence the voices of justice-seeking people forever. What will endure is the aspiration for freedom, equality, respect for the right to life, and human dignity — values for which the people of Iran have paid a heavy price and continue to stand firm.”
The “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign announced that a group of prisoners at Kerman Prison has joined the campaign in protest against death sentences and will go on hunger strike every Tuesday alongside other participating prisoners.
