Week 129 of the No to Execution Tuesdays campaign continues in 58 prisons across Iran. Prisoners remain on hunger strike against executions and repression.

Hunger Strike Continues for the 129th Consecutive Week

The No to Execution Tuesdays campaign has entered its 129th consecutive week, with political and ideological prisoners in 58 prisons across Iran continuing their weekly hunger strike.

With the joining of Borujen Prison, the number of participating facilities has now reached 58.The strikers have strongly warned about the catastrophic acceleration of the regime’s execution machine and the issuance of death sentences for protesters arrested during the January 2026 popular uprising, including several teenagers and juveniles.

Strong Condemnation of Repression

The prisoners condemned the recent violent attack by guards on the women’s ward of Evin Prison and the transfer of several inmates from Qezel Hesar Prison for execution. They called on Iranian public opinion and international human rights organizations to take immediate action to stop these inhumane punishments.

Two Years of Pezeshkian Government: Catastrophic Rise in Executions

Two years after the appointment of Masoud Pezeshkian as president of the Velayat-e Faqih regime, the number of executions has risen dramatically, with at least 3,888 people sent to the gallows so far. Last week, a 52-year-old female prisoner was executed in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz.

Death Sentences for January 2026 Uprising Protesters

In addition to dozens already executed in connection with the January 2026 uprising, more than 100 political prisoners currently face death sentences. Twelve prisoners related to the “Alikhani Square of Isfahan” case have received the following sentences:

  • Alireza Sepahi (born 2001) — sentenced to execution 4 times
  • Abolfazl Sepahi (born 2003) — sentenced to execution 3 times
  • Alireza Raeisi (born 2004) — sentenced to execution 2 times
  • Ghaem Hosseini (born 2005) — sentenced to execution 2 times
  • Gol-Mohammad Mohammadi (born 2002, Afghan citizen) — sentenced to execution 2 times
  • Amirhossein Safari (born 1998) — sentenced to execution
  • Amirhossein Maleki (born 2006) — sentenced to execution
  • Ali Dashti (born 2006) — sentenced to execution
  • Amirhossein Ebrahimi Analoujeh (born 2006) — sentenced to execution
  • Shervin Bagherian (born 2007) — sentenced to execution
  • Erfan Esfandiari (born 2007) — sentenced to execution
  • Abolfazl Ebrahimi (born 2007) — sentenced to execution

Three of these prisoners were children at the time of their arrest.

Attack on Evin Women’s Ward and Qezel Hesar Protests

On Sunday, 12 July 2026, prison guards raided the women’s political prisoners’ ward in Evin Prison to suppress protests against overcrowding. Since Monday, 13 July 2026, prisoners in Unit 2 of Qezel Hesar Prison have been on hunger strike protesting the transfer of six cellmates to solitary confinement for execution.

Borujen Prison Joins the Campaign

This week, a group of prisoners in Borujen Prison in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province joined the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign.
