Paris Exhibition Highlights Iran’s Escalating Executions

Paris, August 15, 2026 – An exhibition calling for the abolition of the death penalty in Iran was held on Saturday, August 15, at Place Joachim-du-Bellay in Paris. Organized by supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), the event honored the memory of recently executed PMOI members and protesters who lost their lives during Iran’s nationwide uprising in January 2026.

Held under the slogan #StopExecutionsInIran, the exhibition attracted considerable public attention. Many Parisians expressed particular concern over mass executions, which have intensified in Iran since the beginning of 2026, particularly amid the war between Iran and the United States that began on February 28. Visitors stopped to view the displays, spoke with the organizers, and expressed solidarity with the Iranian people and opposition to the executions. Organizers also drew attention to the country’s alarming human rights situation, noting that thousands of prisoners are reportedly facing death sentences and calling for the abolition of capital punishment.

Throughout the event, supporters of the Iranian Resistance chanted, “Stop stop stop, stop executions in Iran,” and “The hangman’s noose will never frighten those who struggle for freedom,” reaffirming their determination to continue opposing repression despite what they described as the Iranian regime’s campaign of executions and intimidation.

The gathering also paid tribute to those who have lost their lives during decades of repression and called for justice and accountability. The exhibition also featured photographs of the victims of the 1988 massacre, in which more than 30,000 political prisoners were executed in the summer of 1988 on the orders of Ruhollah Khomeini. The exhibition highlighted the January 2026 nationwide uprising, during which, according to figures released by the PMOI, thousands of protesters were reportedly killed.

A Call for Freedom, Democracy, and Justice

Speakers and attendees emphasized that, despite decades of executions, imprisonment, and systematic repression, the Iranian people and their organized Resistance remain committed to the pursuit of freedom, democracy, and human rights. They also highlighted the role of the Resistance Units inside Iran in opposing the ruling theocracy and rejected both the former monarchy and the current theocratic system.

The Paris exhibition reiterated calls for accountability for past and ongoing human rights violations, expressed solidarity with the Iranian people’s pursuit of a free, democratic, and just future, and urged the international community to take a firm stance against the Iranian government’s continued use of the death penalty as a means of political repression.
