UN Expert Ana Lorena Delgadillo Joins “No to Execution Tuesdays” Hunger Strike as Campaign Enters 145th Week

Ana Lorena Delgadillo joins #NoToExecutionTuesdays hunger strike in solidarity with Iranian political prisoners.

UN Working Group Vice-Chair Ana Lorena Delgadillo joined Iran’s 145th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” hunger strike in solidarity with political prisoners across 66 prisons, continuing the wave of support from UN experts that Maryam Rajavi highlighted the previous week.

Ana Lorena Delgadillo Joins the Campaign

Ana Lorena Delgadillo, Vice-Chair of the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances, joined the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign with a solidarity action on Tuesday, 3 November 2026 — the 145th consecutive week of the prisoners’ weekly protest.

The UN Working Group on Enforced Disappearances announced:

“Today Ana Lorena Delgadillo @analorenadp is joining the #NoToExecutionTuesday campaign. All executions and enforced disappearances must stop. We stand with all of those sentenced to death. A moratorium is urgently needed as a step toward abolition.”

Delgadillo herself amplified the call with the hashtags #StopExecutions #StopEnforcedDisappearances #Iran.

The campaign, which began in early 2024 in Ghezel Hesar Prison, has grown into a nationwide act of resistance spanning 66 prisons. Prisoners choose Tuesdays because it is the day death-row inmates are typically transferred to solitary confinement ahead of execution. Despite intensifying repression and a sharp rise in executions, the hunger strikes continue. Since March 2026, at least 46 political prisoners and protesters have been executed, with more than 100 others remaining on death row.

Simaye Azadi TV covered the development, highlighting Delgadillo’s call for an end to all executions and enforced disappearances, her solidarity with everyone sentenced to death, and her emphasis on the urgent need for a moratorium as a step toward abolition.

Building on Last Week’s International Momentum

This week’s action follows last week’s participation by UN Special Rapporteur Andrea Bolaños Vargas and former UN expert David R. Boyd during the 144th week. Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), underscored the significance of that growing solidarity:

“As the #NoToExecutionsTuesdays campaign marks its 144th week, global and national solidarity against executions in Iran is reaching new heights. With UN Rapporteurs joining the hunger strike and chants rising across Iran demanding a halt to executions and the release of political prisoners, resistance against the regime’s death penalty machine has never been stronger.”

The continued engagement by successive UN experts reinforces that message of expanding international support.

Iran Freedom Network and Global Voices

The Iran Freedom Network thanked Delgadillo:

“Thank you, @analorenadp, for raising your voice and standing up for human rights. No more executions or enforced disappearances! We stand in solidarity with all those facing death sentences. Justice, dignity, and life must prevail!”

British Member of Parliament Jim Shannon also spoke out:

“Since March 2026, 46 political prisoners & protesters have been executed, more than 100 more wait on death row. This is the campaign’s 145th consecutive week, with prisoners in 66 prisons across Iran participating in a weekly hunger strike against executions #NoToExecutionTuesday.”

In Australia, Dr. Meredith Burgmann, former President of the New South Wales Legislative Council, and Dr. Meredith Burgmann, former President of the NSW Legislative Counciljoined supporters in the fifth week of local solidarity actions, standing alongside Delgadillo and previous UN participants.

Freedom-loving Iranians and supporters of the Iranian Resistance and the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) joined in large numbers. On Tuesday, 3 November 2026, countless supporters across the diaspora and inside Iran declared their solidarity with political prisoners in 66 prisons, many participating in the 24-hour hunger strike themselves and expressing gratitude to Delgadillo for amplifying the prisoners’ voices.

Their messages emphasized that successive acts of international solidarity strengthen the resistance against the regime’s use of the death penalty and that the campaign will continue until executions end and political prisoners are free.

The 145th week of the campaign once again demonstrated that the prisoners’ weekly hunger strikes, now supported by successive UN experts and parliamentarians, remain a powerful symbol of defiance against executions in Iran.
