Iranian security forces are scrambling to prevent protests in Isfahan on Friday, December 3, 2021. Traffic police has banned all commute on roads around the Zayandeh Rud river basin and Khaju bridge.

Locals report large numbers of anti-riot forces and plainclothes agents around the city. Internet access has been limited.

Last Friday, November 26, security forces violently suppressed protests by farmers at Zayandeh Rud. Security forces opened fire on protesters, injuring hundreds of demonstrators.

Farmers of Isfahan had plans to gather at the Zayandeh Rud basin again on Friday. Isfahan’s farmers are suffering from severe water shortages caused by bad government policies.
