Thousands of teachers gathered in Tehran, Shiraz, Mashhad, Ahvaz, Tabriz, and other cities to protest for their rights. These rallies come after the Majlis (parliament) passed a law that only addresses a small part of the teachers’ needs.

The bill also doesn’t guarantee to fund the project to adjust the teachers’ salaries. Iranian teachers have been protesting for months for better salaries, classification laws, and release of detained teachers.

The regime has refused to address their needs. The Majlis has declared that the plan will not be reformed.
Instead, security forces have attacked teachers’ gatherings and arrested several rights activists.

In this regard, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran(NCRI), sent a message: “With their courageous protests today, Iranian teachers showed that they will not back down despite the clerical regime’s deceptive plans, threats, & suppressive measures. The teachers’ movement will carry on until their demands are met.”

Mrs. Rajavi added: “I call on Iranian youths, particularly the high school and university students, to join their teachers in support. The first lesson of the freedom-loving teachers of Iran is to be free and courageous in the face of the mullahs’ oppression.”

“The teachers’ protests in #Iran manifest the determination of the general Iranian public to overthrow the clerical regime that is the main cause of oppression, corruption, poverty, unemployment and poverty.”
