Iran Protests: Second Day of Anti Regime Protests Over the Abadan Metropol Tower Collapse

May 26, 2022: People in several cities across the provinces of Khuzestan, Hormozgan, and Isfahan took to the streets on Thursday, May 26, holding anti-regime protests in solidarity with the people of Abadan following Monday’s collapse of the city’s ten-story Metropol tower.

Women were participating in large numbers in these protest rallies. Khorramshahr and Behbahan in Khuzestan, Shahin Shahr in Isfahan, and Bandar Abbas in Hormozgan provinces have been scenes of night protests and rallies in support of the people of Abadan, who took to the streets again for the second consecutive night, protesting the regime’s corruption and incompetence in providing aid for those in need.

Protesters chanted against the regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and the regime’s President Ebrahim Raisi, during anti-regime protests. These slogans were heard among the protests:

“Death to Khamenei!”

“Khamenei, shame on you! Let go of the country!”

“Khamenei is a murderer! His rule is void!” “Death to the mullahs’ principle!”

A”Basijis get lost!” referring to members of the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) paramilitary Basij members.

In Khorramshahr, Khuzestan province, people took the streets for anti-regime protests in solidarity with their neighbors in Abadan. They’re chanting: “Khuzestan, unite!” calling on all their neighboring cities to unite against the regime.

Also, Khorramshar people chanted: “Our enemy is right here! They lie in saying its America!” “I will those who killed my brother!”

And “Let go of Syria! Think about us!”

Maryam Rajavi’s message to the people who have risen in support of the people of Abadan and its protests

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said:

“Hail to the people and women of Khorramshahr who have risen in support of the people of Abadan and its protests. Hail to Bandar Abbas, who support Abadan with chants of “death to the dictator.” The enemy of all our people is the predatory clerical regime that has occupied Iran.”

“The tragedy in Abadan is a manifestation of the 43-year rule of the clerical regime, which has brought Iranian people nothing but crimes, corruption, and theft.”

“The people of Khorramshahr cry out, “I’ll kill whoever killed my brother,” “the people of Khuzestan will die but won’t accept humiliation,” and “Raisi, shame on you, let go of the country.” They reflect the desires of all Iranians to overthrow of the mullahs’ ominous rule.”
