Iran Protests: Teachers Protested in 20 Provinces, and Demanded the Release of Imprisoned Teachers

Thursday, May 12, 2022: Despite the repressive measures, teachers, and educators protested in at least 35 cities from 20 provinces across Iran against the non-fulfillment of their legitimate demands, including ranking and leveling pensions, as well as the arrest of many teachers.

Rallies and demonstrations took place in 20 provinces, outside the regime’s parliament in Tehran and the education departments in other cities. This was the second nationwide demonstration by teachers and educators in May.

In addition to Tehran, the gatherings and demonstrations were held in the cities of Karaj, Shiraz, Ahvaz, Tabriz, Hamadan, Rasht, Sari, Sanandaj, Qazvin, Yasuj, Kermanshah, Ardabil, Arak, Bojnurd, Zahedan, Shahreza, Marivan, Sardasht, Saqez, Eslamabad-e-Gharb, Amol, Dehgolan, Nurabad Mamasani, Bijar, Fasa, Abdanan, Harsin, Rezvanshahr, Abhar, Kuhdasht, Bandar Anzali, Divandarreh, Bukan, and Langarud.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) said: “The freedom-loving teachers of Iran held protests today in various cities despite the regime’s repressive measures. These protests show teachers’ anger and resolve to achieve freedom and justice. Iran’s rebellious youths rise up in step with their teachers to accomplish this goal.”
