Iran Protests Reach Day Ten as Strikes and Demonstrations Intensify Nationwide
Security forces withdraw from Abdanan as clashes escalate in Tehran’s Grand Bazaar and other cities
Iran’s nationwide protests entered their tenth day as strikes and street demonstrations continued in Tehran and several other cities, despite heightened security measures and intensified crackdowns by state forces.
In parts of western Iran, including the city of Abdanan in Ilam Province, local reports said security forces were forced to withdraw from the streets after facing large crowds of demonstrators who took control of several areas and reportedly occupied a police station for hours.
In the capital, shopkeepers and merchants in Tehran’s Grand Bazaar reportedly joined strikes, disrupting economic activity. Protesters gathered in and around the bazaar and nearby districts, where security forces responded with tear gas and force in an attempt to disperse the crowds, leading to clashes in multiple locations.
Demonstrations and strikes were also reported in numerous cities across the country, including Mashhad, Isfahan, Karaj, Qazvin, Shahin Shahr, and Ilam. According to reports, youths and students played a prominent role in the protests, confronting security forces and chanting anti-government slogans in several urban centers.
The NCRI said protesters continued to defy repression as the unrest expanded both in scale and geographic reach. The growing participation of workers, merchants, and young people underscored the increasing role of strikes alongside street demonstrations.
Reports also indicated casualties resulting from confrontations between protesters and security forces, including injuries and deaths, though no official figures have been released by Iranian authorities.
