Field Reports: Protests and Clashes Intensify Across Cities
On January 21, demonstrators continued to confront security forces in multiple urban centers as Iran’s nationwide uprising entered its 25th day. Despite brutal suppression and a total internet blackout, youth resistance persisted from Tehran to Bandar Abbas, with strikes closing bazaars and self-defense units forming on the streets. The regime responded by fortifying government areas and deploying heavy weaponry in an attempt to suppress the revolt.
Rebel Youth Engage Repressive Forces in Key Cities
Rebellious youths staged coordinated actions in Tehran, Mashhad, Rasht, Kermanshah, Zahedan, and other cities, attacking Basij and IRGC units that have been central to the harsh crackdown. Demonstrators blocked regime supply routes, set fire to suppression bases, and engaged in street battles against special forces, chanting slogans against the ruling establishment.
Martyrs Identified; Judiciary Demands Harsh Sentences
On Day 25, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) released the names of 103 additional martyrs, bringing the total number of verified deaths to 321. The list includes 12 women and many young protesters from cities across the country. Meanwhile, Iran’s judiciary chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Eje’i called for “swift and decisive” executions of detainees, framing the protests as an attack on national security. Reports also highlighted women’s prominent role in leading street resistance amid persistent internet blackouts.
Maryam Rajavi’s Statement on the Uprising
“The people of Iran are determined to topple Khamenei’s criminal regime,” stated Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), in a post on X, underscoring the growing resolve of protesters and highlighting the continuation of the uprising despite widespread repression and brutal crackdowns by the ruling establishment.
