New York Protest Rally Condemns UN Memorial for Ebrahim Raisi, Mass Murderer of Iranian Youth

New York – May 30, 2024: Members of the Organization of Iranian American Communities (OrgIAC) and supporters of the National Council of Resistance Iran (NCRI) and the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), held week-long protests in front of the UN headquarters to condemn the United Nations’ planned memorial for Ebrahim Raisi.

Raisi, the hardline mullah who served as president of Iran’s regime, killed in a helicopter crash in the Dizmar forest of northwestern Iran.

The protesters strongly criticized the UN’s decision to honor Raisi, as the “Butcher of 30,000 political prisoners in Iran” and a “mass murderer” responsible for the execution of thousands of political prisoners during the 1988 massacre in Iran.

Calling for Regime Change and Support for Iranian Resistance

Iranian American Communities (OrgIAC), called for regime change in Iran and expressed support for the Iranian people’s resistance (NCRI and PMOI) against the current regime.

They demanded that the UN cancel the memorial immediately, stating that it undermines the organization’s mission and disrespects the victims of the Iranian regime’s atrocities.

They urged the international community to hold the Iranian regime accountable for its human rights violations and to refrain from appeasing the “religious fascists” and “murderers of the innocent.”
