Iranian Academics in Southampton Host Book Exhibition to Condemn Human Rights Violations in Iran

Southampton, September 28, 2024

On September 28, 2024, freedom-loving Iranians and academics in England who support the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) organized a book exhibition in Southampton. The event aimed to condemn human rights violations in Iran, protest the rising wave of executions carried out by the Iranian regime, and call for the immediate release of all political prisoners held in the regime’s prisons. The Iranian community in Southampton has also expressed solidarity with the ongoing Iranian Revolution.

Academics In Exile association emphasized: “A campaign supporting political prisoners and the #NoToExecution movement was held by the Academics In Exile association in Southampton city centre on Saturday, September 28. The event drew attention from locals and Hampshire’s Daily Echo reporter”

The exhibition covered by Daily Echo in Southampton. Powerful message from the Association of Academics in Exile! Calling for an end to executions in Iran. Their weekly exhibitions and petitions show how crucial it is to raise awareness about human rights violations. Let’s amplify their voices!

The exhibition also urged the UK government to officially designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization. Members of Southampton’s Iranian community called for the prosecution of the regime’s leaders in international courts for crimes against humanity.

Additionally, the academics demanded justice, tougher sanctions on the regime, and recognition of the Iranian people’s right to self-defense.

The exhibition was well-received by a wide range of people in Southampton.
