Iranian Academics in Winchester Host Book Exhibition Condemning Human Rights Violations in Iran, Calling to Blacklist IRGC

Winchester, UK – November 1, 2024

UK, November 1, 2024: Freedom-loving Iranians and academics in England who support the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) organized a book exhibition in Winchester to condemn human rights violations in Iran and show solidarity with the Iranian Revolution.

The event highlighted the critical human rights situation in Iran, focusing on the plight of political prisoners facing death sentences, and called for the immediate release of all political prisoners held by the mullahs’ regime.

The exhibition also urged the UK government to formally designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization and close the Iranian regime’s embassy, a center of espionage and terror. Members of Winchester’s Iranian community called for international prosecution of Iran’s leaders for crimes against humanity.

The Academics In Exile Association stated on the X platform: “Today, 01/11/2024 a book exhibition and booth took place in Winchester, UK, where attendees signed a petition urging the UK government to designate Iran’s IRGC as a terrorist organization and to close the Iranian embassy.”

Additionally, the academics called for justice, tougher sanctions on the regime, and recognition of the Iranian people’s right to self-defense.

The exhibition was well-received by a diverse audience in Winchester.
