Sheffield, UK – May 13, 2025 – The Academics in Exile Association, affiliated with the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), organized a public bookstall and photo exhibition in Sheffield to protest the latest wave of executions in Iran.
The event condemned the regime’s recent issuance of death sentence against PMOI-affiliated political prisoners and called for the immediate and unconditional release of all political detainees. Held in solidarity with Iran’s prisoners of conscience, the exhibition highlighted the alarming rise in torture and state-sanctioned executions across the country.
Participants also expressed their solidarity with the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, which is being carried out inside prisons across Iran.
Participants urged the UK government to officially designate Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization and to close the Iranian regime’s embassy in London, which they described as a hub for espionage and terror operations. Members of the Iranian diaspora in Sheffield echoed these demands and called for international legal action against Iran’s leadership for crimes against humanity.
The academics further advocated for tougher sanctions on the regime and for global recognition of the Iranian people’s right to self-defense. The exhibition drew strong support from a diverse local audience and emphasized growing international concern over Iran’s human rights violations.
