Canada – May 17, 2025: Supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) gathered in Vancouver and Winnipeg to protest the Iranian regime’s escalating human rights abuses, with a particular focus on recent death sentences handed down to political prisoners.
The rallies also marked the 60th anniversary of the PMOI/MEK’s founding in 1965. Demonstrators paid tribute to six decades of the organization’s steadfast resistance against two tyrannical regimes: the overthrown monarchy of the Shah and the current theocratic dictatorship. They honored the MEK’s enduring commitment to achieving a free and democratic Iran.
Demonstrators called for the immediate revocation of these death penalties and the unconditional release of all political detainees. They denounced the regime’s continued repression and expressed unwavering support for the Iranian people’s struggle for democratic change.
Participants also honored the memory of those martyred during the Iranian revolution—individuals executed by the regime or killed in popular uprisings—and reaffirmed their commitment to the struggle for freedom, democracy, justice, and human rights.
Protesters reiterated their vision for a democratic, secular republic—rejecting both clerical rule and any return to monarchical governance. They urged the international community to support the Iranian people’s right to resist tyranny and expressed solidarity with the MEK Resistance Units operating inside Iran.
