Melbourne, Australia – May 10, 2025: Supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) gathered in front of the Melbourne Parliament to raise awareness about the escalating human rights violations committed by the Iranian regime. The event served as a powerful show of solidarity with the ongoing Iranian uprising, focusing especially on the recent surge in executions of political prisoners.
The rally shed light on the grim realities faced by PMOI members and other political detainees, many of whom have received death sentences following unjust trials. Among the most urgent cases are Behrouz Ehsani and Mehdi Hassan, who are both at imminent risk of execution.
Members of Melbourne’s Iranian community voiced strong support for establishing a democratic republic in Iran, firmly rejecting both theocratic rule under the mullahs and any return to monarchy.
The group called for the closure of the Iranian regime’s embassy in Australia and urged the Australian government to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization.
Speakers and attendees underscored the importance of recognizing the Iranian people’s resistance—particularly the efforts of MEK Resistance Units operating inside Iran—in their ongoing fight against oppression. They reaffirmed the right of the Iranian people to defend themselves in pursuit of freedom and democracy.
