UK Cities Host Weeklong Exhibitions Against Executions in Iran

May 2025 – The “No to Execution in Iran” campaign is running for a week across UK cities.

From May 13 to 17, 2025, major cities across the United Kingdom—including Manchester, Birmingham, Sheffield, and London—witnessed a wave of public exhibitions condemning the death penalty in Iran. These events are part of the “No to Executions” campaign in Iran, organized by the Academics in Exile Association, a group of Iranian scholars affiliated with the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).

Each exhibition featured photo displays and informational bookstalls, aimed at drawing international attention to the alarming surge in executions and the ongoing repression of political dissent inside Iran.

The events condemned the regime’s recent issuance of death sentence against PMOI-affiliated political prisoners and called for the immediate and unconditional release of all political detainees. Held in solidarity with Iran’s prisoners of conscience, the exhibitions highlighted the alarming rise in torture and state-sanctioned executions across the country.

In support of these efforts, the Academics in Exile Association posted on their X platform:

May 15: Today, in Manchester, we stand in unwavering solidarity with Mehdi Hasani & Behrooz Ehsani—political prisoners in #Iran facing imminent execution after enduring torture and grossly unfair trials.
We join @Amnesty in demanding justice and an immediate halt. Speak out now—before it’s too late.

In addition to raising awareness about the current wave of executions, the exhibitions expressed support for the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign—a protest movement initiated within Iranian prisons by political detainees.

At the events, participants strongly urged the UK government to designate Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization and demanded the closure of the Iranian regime’s embassy in London, citing its role in orchestrating espionage and terror activities.

Attendees—including members of the Iranian diaspora, human rights advocates, and the local public—echoed these calls, demanding international legal action against Iran’s leadership for crimes against humanity. The exhibitions have been met with significant public interest and solidarity from diverse communities across the UK, reflecting growing concern about Iran’s human rights record.

The Academics in Exile Association emphasized that the international community must stand with the Iranian people in their struggle for justice, freedom, and the right to resist tyranny. The weeklong campaign continues to shed light on the systematic brutality of the Iranian regime and advocate for real, lasting change.
