Sheffield, UK – June 24, 2025: The Academics in Exile Association, a group supporting the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), organized a public bookstall and photo exhibition in Sheffield to protest the recent surge in executions in Iran.
The event strongly denounced the death sentences imposed on prisoners affiliated with the PMOI and called for the immediate and unconditional release of all political detainees. Held in solidarity with Iran’s prisoners of conscience, the gathering drew attention to the alarming rise in torture and systematic executions carried out by the Iranian regime in recent days.
Participants also urged the UK government to designate Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization and to shut down the Iranian regime’s embassy in London, describing it as a center of espionage and terrorism. Members of the Iranian diaspora in Sheffield echoed these demands, calling for international legal action against Iran’s ruling authorities for crimes against humanity.
In a post on X, the Academics in Exile Association stated:
“A bookstand was held today, June 24, 2025, in Sheffield in support of the ‘Tuesdays for No to Executions’ campaign in Iran.
Participants called for an end to executions and a people-led transition to a democratic republic.”
