July 27, 2025 — In a shocking act of state violence, the Iranian regime executed two political prisoners in Tehran: Behrouz Ehsani and Mehdi Hassani. Both were members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).

This brutal act has sparked outrage across the Iranian diaspora. Protests broke out in multiple cities across Europe and beyond. Supporters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and the PMOI gathered in front of Iranian embassies to condemn the killings and demand international action.

Protests Across Europe

In Berlin, demonstrators rallied outside the regime’s embassy. They urged the German government and the European Union to take a clear and firm stance.
“The regime is intensifying its repression because it senses its downfall,” said one protester. “The silence of the international community must end now.”

Similar scenes took place in London. Protesters called the executions “barbaric” and urged the UK Foreign Office to act immediately. They warned that 14 other political prisoners are at risk of execution if the world remains silent.

In The Hague, demonstrators held signs reading “Silence is Complicity” and “Stop Executions in Iran.” They demanded that the Dutch government speak out against the Iranian regime’s brutality.

Protests were also held in Vienna, Oslo, Paris, Gothenburg, and Cologne. Iranian expatriates in these cities demanded an end to executions and the release of all political prisoners. Chants like “Khamenei Must Go” and “No to Execution” echoed through the streets.

A Call for Action

Protesters stressed that the world’s silence and appeasement have only encouraged the regime. They called on governments, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to:

  • Immediate annulment of all death sentences for political prisoners and the complete abolition of the death penalty in Iran,
  • Unconditional and immediate release of all political prisoners,
  • Immediate condemnation of the executions by democratic governments, UN, and human rights defenders,
  • Stronger diplomatic and economic pressure on the Iranian regime,
  • Deployment of an international fact-finding mission to investigate human rights violations in Iranian prisons.

This wave of protests is not only an act of solidarity with the victims. It is a broader call to support the Iranian people in their fight for freedom and justice. Many protesters also demanded the closure of Iranian embassies involved in repression abroad.
