Sydney Rally Urges Support for Maryam Rajavi’s Third Option and Democratic Change in Iran

Iranian-Australians Rally in Sydney Backing Democratic Change in Iran

Sydney, Australia – July 1, 2025: Members of the Iranian-Australian community, who support the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), gathered in Sydney to protest against the Iranian regime and voice their support for a democratic alternative. They backed the “Third Option” proposed by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), which advocates for democratic change led by the Iranian people and their organized resistance—rejecting both war and appeasement.

Demonstrators echoed Rajavi’s message: the only viable solution for Iran is not military intervention or conciliatory diplomacy, but regime change driven by the people of Iran and the Resistance movement.

The rally emphasized the PMOI’s vision for a free, democratic, and secular Iran, firmly rejecting both the current theocratic regime and any return to monarchy.

The event also highlighted the regime’s ongoing human rights abuses, including systematic torture and the widespread use of the death penalty against prisoners of conscience. Participants strongly condemned these violations and called for international accountability.

In line with this, the demonstrators demanded that the Iranian regime’s leaders be prosecuted in an international court for crimes against humanity.

Moreover, they demanded recognition of the Iranian people’s right to resist tyranny, including the right of MEK Resistance Units inside Iran to defend themselves against dictatorship and oppression.
