Manchester Exhibition Urges Action to Save Iranian Political Prisoners Facing Execution

Manchester, UK – August 21, 2025

Manchester, UK – August 21, 2025 – The Academics in Exile Association, supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), organized an exhibition and bookstall in Manchester to denounce the Iranian regime’s execution of political prisoners.

The event aimed to draw attention to the looming execution of five political prisoners in Iran. These prisoners have been transferred to Ghezel Hesar Prison, a notorious site for executions, putting their lives at imminent risk.

Demands of the event organizers:

  1. The complete abolition of the death penalty in Iran.

  2. The immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners.

  3. International recognition of the Iranian people’s right to resist tyranny.

Participants also called on the UK government to designate Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization and to close the Iranian regime’s embassy in London, describing it as a hub for espionage and terrorist activities.

Members of the Iranian diaspora in Manchester echoed these demands, urging international legal action against Iran’s leaders for crimes against humanity. The academics further pressed for justice, stronger sanctions on the regime, and formal recognition of the Iranian people’s right to self-defense.

The exhibition attracted significant interest from a diverse audience in Manchester, underscoring the growing global concern over human rights violations in Iran.
