Sydney, Australia – August 5, 2025 – Supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) gathered in Sydney to denounce the execution of Iranian political prisoners by the Mullahs’ regime. They specifically condemned the recent state-sanctioned executions of Mehdi Hassani and Behrouz Ehsani, both members of the PMOI.
Protesters expressed strong support for the PMOI Resistance Unit operating within Iran and emphasized their commitment to a democratic republic founded on freedom, equality, and secular governance. They firmly rejected both theocracy and monarchy as viable political systems for Iran’s future.
The demonstrators put forward the following key demands:
-
The complete abolition of the death penalty in Iran;
-
The immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners;
-
International recognition of the Iranian people’s right to resist tyranny.
Freedom-loving Iranians in Sydney expressed their support for the call made by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), to expand participation in the “No to Executions” campaign.
This event stood as a defiant protest against Iran’s ongoing human rights violations, the alarming rise in executions, and the broader campaign of repression. Participants called for international accountability and justice for the victims of state violence.
