Gothenburg, Sweden – August 2, 2025 – Supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) gathered in Gothenburg to reaffirm their unwavering support for the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), recognizing it as the only democratic and viable alternative to Iran’s ruling theocracy.
The rally served as both a protest against the regime’s ongoing human rights abuses and a tribute to executed political prisoners, including Behrouz Ehsani and Mehdi Hassani. Demonstrators condemned the rising number of executions in Iran and called for justice for the victims of state violence.
They demanded the blacklisting of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the closure of the Iranian embassy in Sweden, and stronger international measures against the regime’s crimes.
At the heart of the event was support for Maryam Rajavi’s “Third Option,” which rejects both foreign military intervention and the policy of appeasement. Instead, it promotes democratic change led by the Iranian people and their organized resistance movement. Rally participants emphasized the importance of supporting this vision as the only realistic path toward a free, secular, and democratic Iran.
Participants condemned all forms of authoritarianism—whether religious or monarchical—and emphasized their united support for establishing a secular, democratic republic in Iran.
The gathering concluded with a powerful appeal to the global community: to stand with the Iranian people, to recognize their right to resist tyranny, and to support the MEK Resistance Units in their fight for a future grounded in democracy and human dignity.
