Southampton, UK – August 9, 2025 – The Academics in Exile Association, supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), held a public photo exhibition and bookstall in Southampton to emphasize the value of every human life and draw attention to five MEK-supporting political prisoners now facing imminent execution.

Five Prisoners at Imminent Risk of Execution

The exhibition highlighted the case of five MEK-supporting political prisoners who were recently separated from other inmates and transferred to Ghezel Hesar Prison, a facility notorious for carrying out executions. Their transfer has placed them at imminent risk of execution.

The event also condemned the recent state-sanctioned executions of PMOI members Mehdi Hassani and Behrouz Ehsani, carried out by the regime’s ruling clerics.

The organizers and participants put forward three main demands:

• The complete abolition of the death penalty in Iran.

• The immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners.

• International recognition of the Iranian people’s right to resist tyranny.

Participants also urged the UK government to designate Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization and to close the Iranian regime’s embassy in London, which they described as a center for espionage and terrorist activities.

Members of the Iranian diaspora in Southampton echoed these calls, urging international legal action against Iran’s leaders for crimes against humanity. The academics further demanded justice, tougher sanctions on the regime, and formal recognition of the Iranian people’s right to self-defense.

The exhibition drew strong interest from a diverse audience in Southampton, highlighting growing international concern over human rights abuses in Iran.
