Copenhagen, Denmark – September 27, 2025 – Supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) gathered in Copenhagen to commemorate the anniversary of the September 27, 1981 uprising (5 Mehr 1360) and to honor the memory of Zahedan’s Bloody Friday during the 2022 nationwide protests. Participants strongly condemned executions in Iran and urged the immediate release of political prisoners.
On September 27, 1981, Iranian students and youth supporting the PMOI launched a historic uprising, breaking the regime’s red lines with chants of “Death to Khomeini, Long Live Freedom.” The regime’s response was swift and brutal. Eyewitnesses reported that 1,800 protesters and MEK supporters were executed in Evin Prison that very night.
In Copenhagen, MEK supporters paid tribute to those who gave their lives for freedom, declaring that their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten. Demonstrators also voiced steadfast support for the PMOI Resistance Units inside Iran and reaffirmed their commitment to establishing a democratic republic, rejecting both theocracy and monarchy.
The rally highlighted three core demands:
-
The abolition of the death penalty in Iran;
-
The immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners;
-
International recognition of the Iranian people’s right to resist tyranny.
Freedom-loving Iranians in Copenhagen further endorsed Maryam Rajavi’s call to expand participation in the “No to Executions” campaign, underlining the urgency of global solidarity with the Iranian people’s struggle for freedom and democracy.
