Gothenburg, Sweden – August 30, 2025: Freedom-loving Iranians in Gothenburg gathered to commemorate the approaching 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). They honored the memory of the organization’s founders and martyrs who gave their lives in the struggle for freedom, democracy, and justice in Iran.
On this occasion, MEK supporters in Gothenburg also presented a moving spoken-word performance accompanied by music and visuals to celebrate the organization’s 60th anniversary. The performance traced the history of the MEK from its inception to the present day, highlighting key milestones and honoring the organization’s founders and pioneering martyrs—from those who stood up to the Shah’s dictatorship to those who fought and fell in the battle against the clerical regime. It paid tribute to the 30,000 political prisoners massacred in 1988 on Khomeini’s orders, as well as the countless martyrs who have since sacrificed their lives in the struggle against the mullahs’ tyranny.
The performance further emphasized the unparalleled role of the MEK’s leadership over six decades of relentless struggle, as well as the passionate support and steadfast solidarity of its devoted supporters, who have stood with their beloved organization at every critical juncture in its fight for a free Iran.
