Iranian Americans Intensify Protests in New York Ahead of Major Rally at the UN

Iranian Americans intensify protests and rallies in New York ahead of the #2025FreeIranNYRally at the UN.

In recent days, Iranian Americans and supporters of the Iranian Resistance have held a series of protests, nightly vigils, and gatherings outside the United Nations headquarters in New York. These demonstrations strongly denounce the presence of officials from Tehran’s regime at the UN General Assembly and honor the countless victims of executions and repression in Iran.

The activities—organized by the Organization of Iranian American Communities (OIAC)—have drawn broad participation. Candlelight vigils symbolized remembrance of the fallen, while speeches and messages broadcast into Iran via SIMAY AZADI TV reinforced the determination of a nation longing for freedom. Protesters have emphasized that the time has come for the UN and its member states to side with the Iranian people rather than their oppressors.

This campaign will culminate on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, with the #2025FreeIranNYRally at Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza, across from the UN. Thousands of freedom-loving Iranians, joined by their international allies, are expected to rally in a powerful display of unity. Their demands are clear: hold the regime accountable for its crimes, stop the tide of executions, and recognize the Iranian people’s right to achieve democratic change.

At the heart of these protests lies a message voiced again and again: “Regime change by Iranians.” Demonstrators back the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan, which outlines a vision for a free, democratic, secular, and non-nuclear republic in Iran.

As one protester declared, “It’s time for the United Nations to recognize the organized Resistance and the Iranian people’s right to confront tyranny and reclaim their country’s future.”

The major rally in New York and the activities of Iranian American communities supporting the Resistance have also been covered by U.S. media, including CNN, Pacific Press Agency, and NBC.
