MEK Supporters Rally in Gothenburg to Commemorate 1981 Uprising and Call for Democratic Change in Iran

Gothenburg, Sweden – September 27, 2025

Gothenburg, Sweden – September 27, 2025 – Supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) gathered in Gothenburg to commemorate the anniversary of the September 27, 1981 uprising (5 Mehr 1360) in Tehran by PMOI members. They pledged to continue their struggle until the overthrow of the mullahs’ regime in Iran.

Demonstrators reaffirmed their support for Maryam Rajavi’s Third Option and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), presenting it as the only democratic alternative to the ruling theocracy.

Participants expressed solidarity with the 2022 nationwide uprising and urged the Swedish government to close the Iranian regime’s embassy and designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization.

A central theme of the rally was Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan for Iran’s future, which calls for universal suffrage, gender equality, freedom of speech and assembly, autonomy for ethnic minorities, separation of religion and state, a non-nuclear Iran, and other democratic reforms. Attendees emphasized that this plan offers a clear and practical roadmap for a free, secular, and democratic republic in Iran.

Speakers condemned all forms of dictatorship—both clerical and monarchical—emphasizing that Iran’s future must be built on democracy, human rights, and popular sovereignty.

The rally concluded with a strong call on the international community to stand with the Iranian people, recognize their right to resist tyranny, and support the MEK Resistance Units in their determined struggle for freedom, dignity, and democracy.
