Human Rights Violations and the Death Penalty in Iran

Gothenburg, Sweden – November 29, 2025 – Supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) held a rally condemning the brutal wave of executions in Iran and calling for an immediate halt to death sentences, while urging the Swedish government and the European Union to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization, following the recent decision by Australia to blacklist the IRGC after the United States and Canada, and to close the Iranian regime’s embassy in Stockholm.

The demonstrators emphasized that the regime’s escalating repression highlights the urgent need for international solidarity with the Iranian people and their organized Resistance. Participants condemned the Iranian regime’s extensive use of the death penalty as a grave violation of human rights, particularly the execution of political prisoners. They stressed that the death penalty in Iran serves as a systematic tool of repression aimed at silencing dissent and instilling fear among the population.

Calls for Justice and Accountability

The rally demanded the complete abolition of capital punishment in Iran and the unconditional release of all political prisoners, especially those facing imminent execution. Organizers urged that senior officials of the Iranian regime be brought before an international tribunal to face justice for crimes against humanity. Speakers highlighted the importance of international pressure and legal accountability to end the regime’s systematic violations of human rights.

Support for Maryam Rajavi’s Democratic Vision

Participants expressed strong support for NCRI President-elect Maryam Rajavi’s “No to Executions” campaign, calling for its expansion worldwide. They reaffirmed their commitment to a democratic, secular republic in Iran—rejecting both theocracy and monarchy—and voiced solidarity with MEK Resistance Units inside the country striving for freedom and justice.

The demonstrators also endorsed Mrs. Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan, which outlines a comprehensive vision for a free, democratic, and secular Iran founded on respect for human rights, equality, and the rule of law.
