Weekly Rally Against Executions in Gothenburg
Gothenburg, Sweden – December 23, 2025 – Supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) gathered in Gothenburg to mark the 65th consecutive week of local participation in the global “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign. The movement protests the Iranian regime’s escalating wave of executions and systematic repression.
This week’s rally also coincided with the 100th consecutive week of protests by political prisoners in 55 prisons across Iran, reflecting a growing resistance movement and underscoring the urgent need for international attention and action.
Iranian Resistance supporters in Gothenburg emphasized that this milestone represents more than endurance—it symbolizes courage and defiance in the face of brutal suppression. Inside Iran’s prisons, detainees continue this campaign in silence, risking their lives with every word they utter. Their resistance, though hidden behind locked doors, carries a powerful message that demands to be heard.
Gathered on the streets of Gothenburg, Iranians stood as their voice outside those walls—to say “no” to executions and to denounce the Iranian regime’s use of the death penalty as a weapon of fear, control, and silence. The protest’s persistence into its hundredth week stands as a testament to the unwavering spirit and perseverance of those who fight for life, even when the price is high.
Participants strongly condemned the Iranian regime’s increasing use of the death penalty, calling for the immediate annulment of all death sentences and the unconditional release of political prisoners.
Global Call to Expand the “No to Executions” Campaign
Freedom-loving Iranians in Gothenburg expressed their support for Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), and her call to expand the “No to Executions” campaign globally.
They reaffirmed that the presence of Iranian Resistance supporters in cities like Gothenburg serves as a promise that political prisoners in Iran are not alone and that their struggle is neither forgotten nor invisible. The Iranian community in Gothenburg stood united—against execution, against oppression, and in defense of life, dignity, and a free Iran. Protesters also called for the prosecution of the regime’s leaders for crimes against humanity in an international tribunal.
A Unified Call for Global Solidarity
The gathering concluded with a unified appeal for international support of the Iranian people’s struggle against tyranny and recognition of the MEK’s Resistance Units as a vital part of the nationwide campaign for freedom, dignity, and democracy in Iran.
