Washington, DC – April 20, 2026: Iranian American supporters of the Iranian Resistance gathered near the White House to protest the Iranian regime’s escalating wave of executions, including the execution of PMOI members Hamed Validi and Mohammad (Nima) Masoom Shahi on the same day.
The rally highlighted what participants described as a rapidly intensifying campaign of state violence. Demonstrators warned that the regime is increasingly relying on executions to mask its internal weakness and suppress growing unrest across the country.
Protesters chanted, “Regime change in Iran, by the people of Iran,” emphasizing their support for democratic change led by the Iranian people and it’s organized resistance.
Speakers stressed that the executions of Validi and Masoom Shahi are not isolated cases. Over the past three weeks, a total of eight PMOI/MEK members, along with protesters arrested during the January 2026 uprising, have been executed.
Demonstrators strongly condemned the regime’s actions as blatant violations of human rights. Participants held photos of the victims and paid tribute to their memory, reaffirming their commitment to continue the struggle for freedom, justice, and a democratic republic in Iran.
They also called on the international community—particularly the United States—to adopt a firm policy toward Tehran. Participants emphasized that any negotiations with the Iranian regime must include an immediate halt to executions and repression.
Organizers underscored that the Iranian people reject all forms of dictatorship, whether monarchical or theocratic, and urged global support for their ongoing resistance and demand for democratic change.
