MEK Supporters in Gothenburg Rally in 120th Week of Iran’s “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign

Sweden – May 12, 2026: MEK supporters in Gothenburg marked 120 weeks of #NoToExecutionTuesdays.

Weekly Rally Against Executions in Gothenburg

Gothenburg, Sweden — May 12, 2026: Supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) held a rally to mark the 120th consecutive week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, a movement protesting the Iranian regime’s escalating executions and systemic repression.

Protesters condemned the recent execution of political prisoners and demonstrators arrested during the January 2026 uprising. They warned that dozens of political detainees and protesters arrested during recent uprisings are now at imminent risk of execution. Early on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, the regime executed 55-year-old rebel Mohammad Abbasi in Ghezel Hesar Prison. Abbasi was arrested during the January uprising in Malard.

Participants also highlighted the regime’s intensifying crackdown, the rising number of executions, and broader repressive measures, including nationwide internet shutdowns. They chanted slogans such as “Down with the executioner regime” and called for the immediate release of all political prisoners.

Freedom-loving Iranians in Gothenburg expressed support for Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), and her call to expand the “No to Executions” campaign globally.

They reaffirmed that the presence of Iranian Resistance supporters in cities like Gothenburg is a pledge that political prisoners in Iran are not alone and that their struggle is neither forgotten nor invisible. The Iranian community in Gothenburg stood united—against executions, against oppression, and in defense of life, dignity, and a free Iran. Protesters also called for the prosecution of the regime’s leaders for crimes against humanity before an international tribunal.

Vision for a Democratic Republic and Support for MEK Resistance Units

Finally, the demonstrators reaffirmed the Iranian people’s call for a democratic republic, rejecting both religious dictatorship and any return to monarchy. They highlighted the importance of recognizing the Iranian Resistance and supporting the MEK Resistance Units inside Iran in their ongoing fight for freedom and justice.
