“No to Executions, Yes to a Democratic Republic in Iran”: Thousands to Rally in Washington, D.C. on May 16

Iranian Resistance advocates promote the May 16 Washington, D.C. rally, calling for “No to Executions” and a democratic republic in Iran.

Washington, D.C. — A major rally organized by the Organization of Iranian American Communities (OIAC) is set to take place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Upper Senate Park, drawing thousands of participants in support of a free and democratic Iran.

The demonstration, scheduled for 11:00 AM, will highlight a central message: “No to Executions, Yes to a Democratic Republic in Iran,” along with a clear rejection of both the dictatorship of the defunct monarchical regimes and the ruling clerical (mullah) regime. Organizers say the rally aims to condemn the Iranian regime’s increasing use of executions, particularly against political prisoners, and to call for their immediate release.

According to organizers, the event will bring together Iranian Americans and supporters of human rights to protest ongoing repression and express solidarity with the Iranian people’s demand for democratic change.

In the lead-up to the rally, supporters held outreach events across Washington, D.C., including a book table on May 4, where they engaged the public and encouraged freedom-loving individuals to attend the demonstration.

The rally is expected to serve as a unified platform to raise awareness about human rights violations in Iran and to amplify calls for an end to executions and the establishment of a democratic republic.
