Oslo, Norway – May 23, 2026: Supporters of the Iranian Resistance held a rally outside the Iranian regime’s embassy to commemorate the anniversary of the execution of the founders of the PMOI by the Shah’s regime on May 23, 1972. Demonstrators honored the sacrifice of the MEK’s founders and reiterated the movement’s enduring commitment to freedom, democracy, and a secular republic in Iran. They highlighted the MEK’s pivotal role in resisting both dictatorships and defending the Iranian people’s right to sovereignty and justice.
Freedom-loving Iranians also protested the executions of political prisoners, including PMOI members and individuals detained during the January 2026 uprising in Iran. They demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners.
Participants paid tribute by honoring the images of the founders and central members of the PMOI who were executed on May 23, 1972, by the Shah’s notorious SAVAK, as well as other martyrs of Iran’s nationwide uprisings, laying flowers in their memory. They also called for the closure of the mullahs’ regime embassy in Norway, describing it as a center for espionage and the export of terrorism.
Mr. Parviz Khazaei, the representative of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) in the Nordic countries, also participated in the rally.
Protesters also rejected all forms of dictatorship, whether monarchical or theocratic, emphasizing their opposition to both the rule of the Shah and the current mullah-led regime. They voiced support for the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) as a democratic alternative.
