Sweden: PMOI Supporters in Gothenburg Welcome UK’s Terrorist Designation of IRGC

PMOI supporters rally in Gothenburg, welcoming the IRGC’s designation as a terrorist organization.

Gothenburg, Sweden – July 14, 2026 – Following the UK government’s decision to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization, supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) held a rally in Gothenburg to welcome the move.

Participants described the proscription of the IRGC as a significant and long-overdue step toward holding the Iranian regime accountable for its terrorism, domestic repression, and destabilizing activities across the region. They welcomed the decision as a major blow to the ruling clerical regime in Tehran and stressed the need for continued international action against  the regime’s principal instrument of repression and terrorism.

Demonstrators also called for the closure of the Iranian regime’s embassy in Sweden and the expulsion of its agents from the country expressing their demands through chants and banners displayed during the rally. They further called for regime change and the establishment of a democratic republic, rejecting both the former monarchy and the current clerical dictatorship.
