Malmö, Sweden – August 1, 2026: Iranian Resistance supporters held a rally and exhibition in Malmö to commemorate the 38th anniversary of the 1988 massacre of more than 30,000 political prisoners in Iran. The event also paid tribute to recently executed members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and protesters killed during Iran’s nationwide uprising in January 2026.

Remembering the 1988 Massacre and Continued Human Rights Violations

The exhibition shed light on the ongoing human rights abuses carried out by Iran’s ruling clerical regime. It recalled the 1988 massacre, in which over 30,000 political prisoners—many of them PMOI supporters and members—were executed.

The event also addressed the deadly crackdown on the January 2026 uprising, during which thousands of protesters were reportedly killed, according to figures released by the PMOI.

Renewed Calls for Freedom, Democracy, and Accountability

Participants emphasized that, despite decades of repression and executions, the Iranian people and their organized Resistance continue their efforts to achieve freedom and democracy. They highlighted the activities of Resistance Units inside Iran and rejected both the former monarchy and the current clerical regime.

The rally called for accountability for past and ongoing human rights violations and expressed solidarity with the Iranian people’s pursuit of a democratic future.
