Rally in Bern Highlights Iran’s Use of the Death Penalty and Honors Victims of the 2022 Uprising

PMOI/MEK supporters in Bern hold a rally and photo exhibition against executions in Iran.

Calls for an End to Executions and Support for a Democratic Future in Iran

The event also expressed solidarity with the “No to Execution” campaign. It marked the fourth anniversary of Iran’s nationwide uprising in September 2022, featuring a photo exhibition commemorating protesters who lost their lives during the uprising. The exhibition paid tribute to those who gave their lives in the struggle for freedom and sought to keep their memory and aspirations alive.

A Call to End Executions and Establish a Democratic Republic

The exhibition supported NCRI President-elect Maryam Rajavi’s “No to Executions” campaign and its call for international action against the use of the death penalty in Iran. It also reaffirmed the Iranian Resistance’s call for a secular and democratic republic, rejecting both theocracy and monarchy.

The event echoed the Resistance’s call for “no to war, no to appeasement, yes to peace and freedom,” while emphasizing its stated objective of bringing about political change through the Iranian people and their organized resistance and establishing a provisional democratic republic in Iran.

Swiss Citizens Express Solidarity with the Iranian People

Swiss citizens who visited the exhibition viewed photographs of those killed during the 2022 uprising as well as images of political prisoners sentenced to death. They expressed solidarity with the Iranian people, condemned what they described as the regime’s inhumane actions, and voiced support for human rights and the Iranian people’s aspirations for freedom.
